Baker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsday.com\/sports\/football\/jets\/nothing-but-jets-1.1279166\/jets-begin-salary-dump-1.4673475\">New York Jets have made a few roster moves <\/a>releasing safety Eric Smith, linebacker Calvin Pace, offensive lineman Jason Smith, linebacker Bart Scott along with waiving h-back Josh Baker who spent last season on injured-reserved.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jets announce LB Bart Scott has been released.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York Jets (@nyjets) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyjets\/status\/303949820354232320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The moves free up <a href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/02\/08\/jets-should-emulate-colts-and-dolphins\/\">$31.265 million<\/a> in salary cap space: Calvin Pace $8.56 million, Jason Smith $12 million, Eric Smith $3 million, Bart Scott $7.15 million and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotoworld.com\/player\/nfl\/7037\/josh-baker\">Josh Baker<\/a> $555,000.\u00a0 These transactions come as no surprise with the Jets a projected $23 million over the 2013 salary cap and needing to be under it by the start of the new league year March 12<sup>th<\/sup> at 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>General manager John Idzik could\u00a0 look to release or waiver other players for salary savings including: quarterback Tim Tebow $1.055 million and defensive tackle <a title=\"Will Po\u2019uha Be A Cap Casualty\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/02\/01\/will-pouha-be-a-salary-cap-casualty\/\">Sione Po\u2019uha <\/a>$3.835 million but it&#8217;s been reported the <a title=\"Jets Looking To Trade Tim Tebow\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/02\/04\/jets-looking-to-trade-tebow\/\">Jets will keep Tebow <\/a>on roster after the new league year begins in an attempt to trade him.<\/p>\n<p>Five players will replace those who were cut costing an additional $2.025 million minimum, so the Jets are now approximately $6.25 million under the 2013 salary cap.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets have made a few roster moves releasing safety Eric Smith, linebacker Calvin Pace, offensive lineman Jason Smith, linebacker Bart Scott along with waiving h-back Josh Baker who spent last season on injured-reserved.
