{"id":17491,"date":"2013-01-08T09:18:41","date_gmt":"2013-01-08T13:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=17491"},"modified":"2013-01-08T09:49:22","modified_gmt":"2013-01-08T13:49:22","slug":"new-york-jets-part-ways-with-oc-sparano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/01\/08\/new-york-jets-part-ways-with-oc-sparano\/","title":{"rendered":"NY Jets Part Ways With OC Sparano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/jets\/index.ssf\/2013\/01\/tony_sparano_fired_as_jets_off.html\">decided<\/a> offensive coordinator Tony Sparano will not be back with the team for the 2013 season after coaching only one year.<\/p>\n<p>Sparano, formerly the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, replaced previous offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer who \u201cresigned\u201d after the 2011 season.\u00a0 The belief was Sparano mirrored head coach Rex Ryan\u2019s philosophy of a physical run first offense.\u00a0 The Jets also acquired quarterback Tim Tebow for Sparano\u2019s change of pace \u201cwildcat\u201d offense which he had used successfully in Miami.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately the team finished the 2012 season ranked 30<sup>th<\/sup> in the league in offense, barely used Tebow, ran uncreative vanilla schemes and Sparano didn\u2019t help in the development of Mark Sanchez, who actually regressed.<\/p>\n<p>This comes soon after the Jets decided to<a title=\"New York Jets To Move On From QB Coach Cavanaugh\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/01\/07\/new-york-jets-to-fire-qb-coach-cavanaugh\/\"> move on<\/a> from quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, not under contract in 2013, is<a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/blog\/nflnation\/post\/_\/id\/70054\/bills-interested-in-jets-dc-mike-pettine\"> interviewing<\/a> with other teams.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/p\/sports\/jets\/jets_not_set_CycqAHpmlp14WIlxazEf4H\">surfaced<\/a> that what once looked like a \u201c<a title=\"New York Jets Closing In On Gamble As New GM\" href=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2013\/01\/05\/new-york-jets-closing-in-on-gamble-as-new-gm\/\">done deal<\/a>\u201d to bring on San Francisco 49ers personnel executive Tom Gamble as the team\u2019s new general manager is now in limbo.<\/p>\n<p>Jets owner Woody Johnson and head coach Rex Ryan have a press conference scheduled for 11 AM today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Jets have decided offensive coordinator Tony Sparano will not be back with the team for the 2013 season after coaching only one year.
