GM Candidate Gamble May Want Tomsula as Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As many of you have heard, the Jets have been granted permission to talk to San Francisco&#8217;s\u00a0Personnel Executive\u00a0Tom Gamble for their open General Manager position.\u00a0 Gamble has been in the NFL for 24 years.\u00a0 He&#8217;s regarded as one of the best talent evaluators in all of the NFL.\u00a0 He&#8217;s been directly responsible for assisting San Francisco&#8217;s GM Trent Baalke for the past two years drafting guys like Kyle Williams, Kendall Hunter, Mike Iupati and Aldon Smith.\u00a0 Together they managed to lock up LB core of Navorro Bowman and Patrick Willis and Vernon Davis.<\/p>\n<p>According to Albert Breer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\">NFL.com<\/a>, Bill Polian personally endorsed Gamble as a great fit for the New York Jets:<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigcatcountry.com\/2013\/1\/1\/3824908\/jaguars-gm-coach-hire-tom-gamble-jim-tomsula-49ers\">Bigcatcountry.com<\/a>, has stated that if Gamble gets a GM job this year, he wants to bring 44 year old Jim Tomsula with him to be the Head Coach.\u00a0\u00a0Tomsula is the currently\u00a0the 49ers defensive line coach.\u00a0 He has also been the head coach one game when\u00a0Mike Singletary was suspended (and won the game).\u00a0 He has been a defensive coordinator overseas and Gamble believes he has a future as a Head Coach in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>This could go one of two ways for the New York Jets:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 The Jets\u00a0bring in\u00a0Gamble and tell him to bring Tomsula to take over as Defensive Coordinator this year, giving Rex Ryan a year to turn this around.\u00a0 At the end of the 2013 season, they will evaluate\u00a0Ryan again and make a decision.\u00a0 If he gets fired Tomsula will be promoted to Head Coach.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Woody Johnson tells Gamble that once he gets the job the Head Coaching position is up to him to decide.\u00a0 Gamble&#8217;s first move could be firing Ryan, Sparano and other coaches and bring Tomsula in for the 2013 season as the Head Coach.\u00a0 That won&#8217;t go over well with some fans, but it may be the best way if the Jets are looking to completely overhaul and rebuild.<\/p>\n<p>As a fan and writer for <a href=\"JetNation.com\">JetNation.com<\/a>, I love having Rex Ryan as a part of this organization.\u00a0 His energy, passion and love for the game have made him a coach that players love to play for.\u00a0 He instills a level of confidence in each individual player that makes them feel a sense of pride and they respect him for that.\u00a0 However, if the new GM is looking to start from scratch Rex may be the first of many moves he makes.\u00a0 Then again, he may want to keep Rex around for a year and then evaluate him.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s going to be a whirlwind week\/weekend of interviews, but if Gamble gets the job, the Jets are already taking a step in the right direction to turn this organization around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As
