He checked down to receivers when he needed to and hit Keller on a crisp TD throw.

Kellen Clemens – 5-12, 63 yards
Clemens didn’t have that strong of a game. He had a few ball batted down, and stumbled out of a snap as well. He had flashes of nice plays, making a few plays out of the pocket, but he definitely did not play well against the Redskins second squad.

Brett Ratliff – 13/19, 148 yards
Brett looked poised out there hitting both Pociask and Henry on a few plays. He led the Jets down the field in one minute to get them in field goal range for a game tying field goal, after a potential game winning touchdown was dropped by Paul Raymond. Overall he made a great second impression and will continue to be challenging for the backup role.

Running Backs – C
Thomas Jones – 2 carries, 7 yards
Leon Washington – 4 carries, 6 yards
Jesse Chatman – 11 carries, 45 yards
Neither Jones nor Washington did much out there as both got eaten up for a few backfield losses. Jesse Chatman ran hard and found his way through a few holes. He was instrumental to the last drive.

Wide Receivers – B-
David Clowney – 4 receptions, 59 yards
Marcus Henry – 4 receptions,42 yards
Jerricho Cotchery – 2 receptions, 30 yards
Clowney had another strong performance out there and is solidifying his spot on the 53 man roster. There was a Marcus Henry sighting, as he was instrumental in the final drive by Ratliff. Cotchery made a few nice catches on Favre tosses, only solidifying the idea of potential bond between the two.

Tight Ends – A
Dustin Keller – 2 receptions, 26, 1 TD
Jason Pociask – 3 receptions, 52 yards
Keller made his presence known as a Jet by catching the Favre TD pass. He ran a tight out route from the line, and Favre hit him as he ran away from the pursuing linebacker. Jason Pociask also had a strong game catching two Ratliff balls, one in the seam, and one on an in route, which he bounced to the outside and ran for 30 yards. Despite the game, I don’t think he can make the team with the spots taken up by Keller, Baker, Franks, and Dearth.

Offensive Line – C
The O-line didn’t open any big holes for the RB’s as most of their big gains were made past the lines and on individual efforts. They also allowed 2 sacks and a few more pressures on both Ratliff and Clemens.

Defensive Line – B-
The first line d-line played pretty well, with Jenkins eating up a few plays. The second and third teams gave up a few big runs to Rock Cartwright and Mason which doesn’t look promising. The last group had a few pressures and a sacks on the quarterback.

Linebackers – B
Cody Spencer led the team and the unit with 6 tackles. Barton made a nice plays on the ball and Calvin Pace was very active on both the run and the pass.

Secondary – B+
James Ihedigbo had a pick and Dwight Lowery played strong again on the corner. He also had 5 tackles getting involved in the run. Both David Barrett and Kerry Rhodes had 3 tackles as none of the Redskins quarterbacks really had too productive of a passing day.

Special Teams – F
Nugent went 1/3 on field goals including a horrendous chip shot to push the team to overtime. That was a horrible display of kicking. Besides that there was relatively little spark given by the return game, and Ben Graham averaged 44.1 yards per kick. Overall poor performance by this group.

Coaching – B
I can’t complain too much with his decisions to punt from the 35 with 2 minutes left, nor the decision to kick the field goal with 5 seconds left compared to trying one last time for the touchdown. In the end it is the preseason and he was able to split up the QB reps accordingly to be able to give Favre some familiarity with the receivers, and also some additional looks at both Clemens and Ratliff.

Studs Of The Game: Brett Favre & Brett Ratliff

Redskins 13 Jets 10 by Brian Clark Quarterback – B+ Brett Favre – 5-6, 48 yards, TD He looked good in there, and there was little doubt in my mind that he had a control of this offense.
