{"id":1253,"date":"2008-02-06T23:48:24","date_gmt":"2008-02-07T04:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=1253"},"modified":"2008-02-06T23:48:24","modified_gmt":"2008-02-07T04:48:24","slug":"jetnationcom-top-10-%e2%80%93-season-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2008\/02\/06\/jetnationcom-top-10-%e2%80%93-season-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Jetnation.com Top 10 \u2013 Season End"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/graphics\/Articles\/headers\/top10.gif\" align=\"right\" height=\"115\" width=\"173\" \/><strong>By Nick Ferraro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0 New York Giants<\/strong><br \/>\nAll hail the Giants.\u00a0 A pass rush is a beautiful thing \u2013 just ask Tom Brady.\u00a0 Amazing that they could get done it all done without Shockey and Tiki.\u00a0 Okay, maybe it\u2019s not that amazing.<\/p>\n<p>To stay on top: They can upgrade on the OL.\u00a0 They need a better kicker especially in the <!--more-->Meadowlands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0 New England Patriots<\/strong><br \/>\nOh, the pain.\u00a0 This one will take a while to forget.\u00a0 If the league looks into additional spying allegations, it will help them focus on something other than their vaunted defense collapsing in the last 90 seconds of the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top: How about somebody who can pick up a blitz.\u00a0 They could use someone under 40 at linebacker.\u00a0 WR could be an issue if they lose their free agents.\u00a0 Oh, and stop cheating.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0 Green Bay Packers<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Pack is definitely back.\u00a0 This team will be better if only because the young stars will improve.\u00a0 They have to wonder what might have been now that the Giants have the Lombardi.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 Favre must be under center or all bets are off.\u00a0 The pass rush disappeared against the Giants.\u00a0 They have to resign Corey Williams and add another big body next to him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0 San Diego Chargers<\/strong><br \/>\nPhilip Rivers scored some points playing after the surgery.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t do much, nor did the rest of the offense in the championship game.\u00a0 They had one of the strangest seasons a team has had.\u00a0 After a 5-5 start, they ripped off eight in a row including two playoff wins before bowing out.\u00a0 Consistency will be the target next year.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 Tomlinson and Rivers healthy.\u00a0 A target opposite Chris Chambers is needed \u2013 is Vincent Jackson the answer?\u00a0 The interior OL was a disappointment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0 Indianapolis Colts<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Colts seemed too methodical all season despite piling up wins.\u00a0 They had a hard time dialing up the emotion when the playoffs started.\u00a0 They are a contender as long as Manning stays on the field.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top: Marvin Harrison\u2019s absence made a huge difference against a good defense.\u00a0 He has to return to form, and Gonzalez needs to provide what Brandon Stokley did before he left.\u00a0 There is an opening at each level of the defense that needs filling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.\u00a0 Dallas Cowboys<\/strong><br \/>\nRomo\u2019s sandlot style can only go so far.\u00a0 A little less gunslinger would have been perfect.\u00a0 I don\u2019t buy the off-field stuff as the reason they got beat. They have weaknesses on the OL and in the secondary.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 Let Julius Jones go.\u00a0 He\u2019s in Marion Barber\u2019s way.\u00a0 Get a solid backup to rest Barber, and watch him carry this team.\u00a0 Get a couple big bodies for the interior OL, resign Flozell Adams, and get a CB.\u00a0 Tighten Romo\u2019s leash.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.\u00a0 Jacksonville Jaguars<\/strong><br \/>\nDel Rio sending Leftwich packing should have won him coach of the year.\u00a0 Garrard was outstanding.\u00a0 He posted 18 TDs only 3 INTs and a rating of over 102.\u00a0 That\u2019s saying something when you look at this sorry bunch of receivers.\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t get enough pressure on Brady in the playoff game. We saw what that could have done for them.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 A stud at WR.\u00a0 They need more pass rushers and another solid player at LB.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.\u00a0 Pittsburgh Steelers<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Steelers surprised people a bit, but they fizzled down the stretch.\u00a0 The OL was the culprit after many dominant seasons.\u00a0 Teams were able to make too many big plays against them as well.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 They need at least two players on the OL.\u00a0 If Faneca leaves, it gets worse.\u00a0 They need to start grooming Hines Ward\u2019s replacement.\u00a0 A safety and a cover corner would be nice too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.\u00a0 Seattle Seahawks<\/strong><br \/>\nNobody really took Seattle very seriously, and they were right.\u00a0 This is a nice team with some very pronounced flaws.\u00a0 Their core is very strong, and they could be back in the mix with some new upgrades in the right places.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 They need a dependable target at WR, and it\u2019s time to make Shaun Alexander a part-time player on his way into retirement.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Guard, DT, and Safety need new faces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Cleveland Browns<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Browns were a great story.\u00a0 Derek Anderson might make Brady Quinn trade bait.\u00a0 Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow are ready to take their places among the league\u2019s elite players.\u00a0 This team has a lot to be excited about.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the top:\u00a0 The Browns need to continue to build both lines.\u00a0 The Secondary needs an overhaul as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bottom Five<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>28. Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Chiefs played at a pro-bowl level at multiple positions on the OL for years.\u00a0 They also got old together this year all at once.\u00a0 They weren\u2019t going to have any success at QB no matter what they did with the blocking they had.\u00a0 Hard to remember this team was 4-3 to start the season.\u00a0 Nine losses in a row is brutal.<\/p>\n<p>To get out of the bottom five: Figure out who you\u2019re QB is.\u00a0 Get him some OL help.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29. St. Louis Rams<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Rams are officially my pick to be most improved team next season.\u00a0 Injuries on the OL doomed them out of the gate.\u00a0 They get a nice draft pick (again), a nice schedule, and should get healthy.\u00a0 Steven Jackson is a star at tailback.\u00a0 He will take a big step forward next year.<\/p>\n<p>To get out of the bottom five: Grab the best defensive or offensive lineman with the first pick.\u00a0 Repeat that in rounds 2-4.\u00a0 Change the mentality in the offseason.\u00a0 Repeat after me \u201cwe are a running team\u2026we are a running team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>30. Oakland Raiders<\/strong><br \/>\nWhat a mess.\u00a0 Al Davis needs to step aside and let this team get off the ground.\u00a0 He is a legend and a cornerstone of NFL history.\u00a0 He is also beyond his better days and destroying a proud franchise.<\/p>\n<p>To get out of the bottom five:\u00a0 Keep Justin Fargas.\u00a0 Find some gutsy offensive linemen.\u00a0 Let Jamarcus Russell play.\u00a0 Beef up at DT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>31. Atlanta Falcons<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Falcons really didn\u2019t have a chance after Vick was arrested.\u00a0 Their coach turned out to be a coward on top of everything.\u00a0 That being said, they do have some good players, and they aren\u2019t as far as most bottom feeders from respectability.<\/p>\n<p>To get out of the bottom five:\u00a0 Find a QB that doesn\u2019t abuse animals and can play.\u00a0 Get a WR with some guts.\u00a0 Upgrade both lines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32.
