The Jets began their optional offseason workout program today and\u00a0for the first time Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow were available at the same time.\u00a0 Both quarterbacks were asked questions about the other and their role on the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been great,\u201d Tebow responded when asked about working with Sanchez.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019ve has a great relationship ever since he hosted me at USC (University of Southern California).\u00a0 We have a lot of fun together and Greg is great as well, we got a lot of stuff to talk about all our days compete back and forth in Florida and Alabama, so we have a very fun quarterback room.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all just learning the same offense right now,\u201d Tebow said regarding how he\u2019ll be used. \u201cWe\u2019re all just going out there and competing and trying to learn together and help one another and push one another.\u00a0 Just try and get everything down cause it\u2019s a new offense for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tebow spoke about possible playing special teams, \u201cI\u2019m just doing whatever they want me to do \u2026 working hard right now trying to get better in the weight room, better on the practice field, understand our offense and just improve a little bit every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTim\u2019s obviously a hard worker, he\u2019s competitive,” Sanchez said about practicing with Tebow. “I think it\u2019s been nothing but positive to this point and that\u2019s what I anticipate in the future, so it\u2019s been fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI just go out there every single day and compete as much as I can try to be a great teammate,\u201d Tebow said when asked about his desire to be the starter. \u201cI think that is the great thing about football is you\u2019re together all these guys everyday, going and training, working out, pushing each other, encouraging each other \u2026\u00a0 I feel like I have a great relationship with a lot of guys in this locker room.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery day you just got to work on trying to handle it your best, trying to be your best and trying to improve every single day,\u201d Tebow said about his new role as back-up.\u00a0 \u201cIt doesn\u2019t change my mindset or my attitude or anything it\u2019s just another opportunity and another challenge \u2026 have a great attitude and approach it the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope every back-up quarterback wants the job of the starter that\u2019s the way you have to prepare,\u201d Sanchez said about Tebow\u2019s move from starter to back-up. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been in those shoes in college anticipating the game studying like I\u2019m the starter and then getting to the game and not playing.\u00a0 Fortunately for Tim he has the ability to do other things and that\u2019s why he is onboard.\u00a0 He\u2019s a back-up quarterback first then he\u2019ll do plenty of other stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
ESPN\u2019s Pedro Gomez reported that wide receiver Santonio Holmes said Tebow was being \u201ca great team player,\u201d because he was taking a lot of the attention away from everyone else in the locker room and putting it on himself.\u00a0 Tight end Dustin Keller told Gomez, \u201cthe two of them (Sanchez and Tebow) have been working very well together \u2026 you could tell they get along.\u201d<\/p>\n
