I started watching the HBO Series Hard Knocks with the Jets AGAIN last night.\u00a0 Yes, I am a repeat offender.\u00a0 Every time I watch this show I discover something I did not notice the first few times I watched it.\u00a0 Last night I recognized Rex Ryan\u2019s passion, it really jumped out at me this time.<\/p>\n

I stand by my belief that Rex is a player\u2019s coach.\u00a0 He wants wins, and will do whatever that takes.\u00a0 There are other higher powers that make hiring decisions and I believe outsiders tend to forget that.\u00a0 Rex is real, raw, and does not care what anyone thinks.\u00a0 A professional athlete at a young age naturally gravitates toward Rex\u2019s demeanor and way of thinking.\u00a0 At first it is a safe haven for players.\u00a0 Then they grow and appreciate the Jets environment.\u00a0 As we all know it is unlike any other.<\/p>\n

Each player brings his own flavor to the team.\u00a0 It\u2019s like an everything bagel, and I love everything bagels.\u00a0 Can he win games?\u00a0 Does he understand how to play like a Jet?\u00a0 Great, Rex wants you.\u00a0 It is a player\u2019s performance on the field that counts, or does it?\u00a0 Understandably during the Combine, potential players are examined under a microscope from all angles.\u00a0 In this case, a player\u2019s performance off-field is just as important as it is on the field.\u00a0 Extracurricular activities can make or break a college kid\u2019s dreams for the NFL.\u00a0 In some cases, they are over looked.\u00a0 Others not so much so your 40 better break records.<\/p>\n

Let us reflect on a few players that love to play for Rex.<\/p>\n

The unfortunate event of Braylon Edwards getting a DUI did not affect how he played games, nor did other players give him grief.\u00a0 The coaches may have said something behind closed doors, but he still played games.\u00a0 The only group of people who made a big deal about the situation was the media.<\/p>\n

Mark Sanchez had a slightly scarred past before the Combine, and has currently made headlines with the woman he has dated.\u00a0 The team does not care what Mark does on his own time, as long as he wins games.\u00a0 When harassed by the media, Mark does not comment about it, and the topic blows over because the media has nothing to feed off of.<\/p>\n

Recently Santonio Holmes has made it clear that he did not dwell on the past issues of 2011.\u00a0 Why linger in the past?\u00a0 Move on.\u00a0 Jets fans are bothered by Holmes\u2019 attitude and the way he carries himself.\u00a0 Granted it affects team morale, but the team is over it, and are moving along.\u00a0 I suggest fans do the same.<\/p>\n

Rex is not changing his attitude towards football, but he is taking on a slightly different approach with coaching the team.\u00a0 He is shifting his focus by paying attention to the players as a whole, rather than individually.\u00a0 By doing this a \u201cbrotherhood\u201d will be formed with the hopes of taking the drama down a few notches.\u00a0 Personally, I think he foresees a clashing of personalities, especially now that Tim Tebow is onboard.\u00a0 Can you imagine the conversations between Tebow and Cromartie?!\u00a0\u00a0 I would love to be a fly on that wall.\u00a0 When asked if the Jets will hold a players only meeting, Nick Mangold said it best when he responded, \u201cRight now, we\u2019re looking at the future, We\u2019re not bickering little school children. We understand things happen\u2026. This is a new team. This is the 2012 Jets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Do you see a pattern here?\u00a0 The moral of the story (or article in this case) is to get over 2011 and move on to 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
