After losing executive vice president of business operations Matt Higgins and former vice president for stadium development and finance Thad Sheely earlier this offseason the Jet have hired<\/a> former NFL executive Neil Glat as Team President where he’ll take over the responsibilities of both departing members.<\/p>\n

The New York Jets announced today that Neil Glat has been named President. The announcement was made by Chairman and CEO Woody Johnson.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am extremely pleased to hire Neil Glat as President of the New York Jets,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cThere were a number of highly qualified candidates, and I appreciate all of the time and energy that each of them invested during this search process. However, Neil distinguished himself with his extensive NFL experience, business acumen, and leadership skills. We have accomplished a great deal during my 12 years as owner of the New York Jets, and I am confident that Neil will continue the growth of our business and elevation of our brand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glat joins the Jets after spending the past 15 years at the NFL league office, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.\u00a0 His responsibilities included strategic initiatives, league and club business development and stadium development.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeil Glat is a talented executive who has contributed to a wide range of business accomplishments during his NFL career,\u201d said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. \u201cI have worked closely with Neil on many projects and he will undoubtedly continue to make his mark on the league in this important and exciting new role with the Jets.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his tenure with the NFL, Glat played an integral role on numerous strategic initiatives, including the recently approved NFL venture capital fund, league-wide agreements with Ticketmaster and the launch of the national youth organization, USA Football.<\/p>\n

Glat\u2019s role in stadium development included the advancement of the NFL\u2019s G-3 and G-4 stadium financing programs, and the active involvement and support of stadium efforts for more than 20 NFL teams, including the Jets.\u00a0 Also, he was an essential part of the successful expansion processes for the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very grateful to Woody Johnson for this tremendous opportunity with the Jets,\u201d said Glat who will begin his duties in early May. \u201cThe Jets have established a unique and innovative brand and are leaders in many areas. I look forward to building on this momentum and working with everyone in the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

A two-time selection for the Street & Smith\u2019s Sports Business Journal<\/em> Forty Under 40 award, Glat has also worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and as an investment banker at Dillon, Read & Co. Inc.<\/p>\n

He received a J.D. from Harvard Law School after graduating with a degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.\u00a0 A native of Westchester, NY, he is married and has twin eight-year old daughters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
