With the 2012 NFL owners meetings underway in Palm Beach Florida compensatory picks for the upcoming draft has just been announced.<\/p>\n
Per the NFL, here\u2019s how a team is awarded a compensatory pick:<\/p>\n
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents<\/span> than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks<\/span>.<\/p>\n
The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss<\/span> of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Picks are given at the end of a specific round under which it was determined to be earned.\u00a0 The Jets have been awarded four compensatory picks at this year\u2019s owners meetings to be used during the upcoming draft set to take place April 26-28.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Due to the loss of the following players: Drew Coleman, Braylon Edwards, Steve Weatherford, Shaun Ellis and Brad Smith; the Jets received compensation because they did not replace these players with any\/better free agents.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The team will receive two sixth (#202, #203) and two seventh (#242, #244) round compensatory picks which are not allowed to be traded under any circumstances.\u00a0\u00a0Hopefully the Jets can find some quality players with these additions in the draft.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
