{"id":10079,"date":"2011-12-08T00:54:51","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T04:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jetnation.com\/?p=10079"},"modified":"2011-12-08T00:54:51","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T04:54:51","slug":"mark-sanchez-on-tom-moore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miletestsite.com\/jets\/2011\/12\/08\/mark-sanchez-on-tom-moore\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Sanchez on Tom Moore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Sanchez spoke to the media today about Tom Moore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Tom Moore staying around for the remainder of the season\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been great.\u00a0 I love having him around.\u00a0 I thought he was a big help during training camp.\u00a0 There is so much knowledge with one guy, and so much experience that he can really help, whether it\u2019s the quarterbacks, receivers, running backs, tight ends or offensive linemen.\u00a0 He\u2019s a big help for us.\u00a0 We love having him around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On what Tom Moore\u2019s contribution has been to him\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How much tape do you have left? (Joking).\u00a0 He\u2019s one of the best offensive minds and football minds I\u2019ve really been around.\u00a0 He just has a different way of saying things sometimes.\u00a0 He has a way of just keeping you calm.\u00a0 He reminds you of what you can do to get better and he\u2019s just a calm presence that I just think is good for our offense.\u00a0 Any time you have a question about a coverage (or) a specific coordinator you\u2019re facing, he\u2019ll always give his insight.\u00a0 He\u2019ll ask for your input and he wants it to be a discussion.\u00a0 Then, the best part, in between when you\u2019re grinding on film or whatever and you\u2019re waiting to switch from third-and-two-to-three film to third-and-four-to-six film or whatever, he\u2019ll tell a story about Terry Bradshaw or being with the Steelers or whoever he has been around, being around Peyton (Manning).\u00a0 They are some of the best stories you can ever hear and they are real fun.\u00a0 He\u2019s just fun to be around.\u00a0 It\u2019s insightful stuff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On anything specific things Moore has said to him that have been helpful\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reminding me about corners\u2019 techniques, reminding you about when certain teams play a specific style of defense, whether it\u2019s 3-4 or 4-3, (they have) certain tells that every defense inevitably has to have.\u00a0 Just like an offense, you have tendencies.\u00a0 He\u2019s done this for so long, he picks up on a lot of them.\u00a0 It really helps between him, Coach (Bill) Callahan, Schotty (Coach Schottenheimer) and Cav (Coach Cavanaugh), and all of their experience, it really does help with my checks at the line of scrimmage and little things, whether it\u2019s a specific stance, the hips of a cornerback or their eyes when they\u2019re covering the slot player.\u00a0 All that stuff, it\u2019s really insightful and it can absolutely help you.\u00a0 Those are the things that go through your mind when you\u2019re checking plays and looking for any kind of chink in the defense\u2019s armor.\u00a0 That\u2019s big.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if he thinks there is a correlation between Tom Moore\u2019s presence and the improved performance in the red zone\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I think we stressed that quite a bit.\u00a0 I think Coach Cavanaugh does a great job of explaining on the tail end of Thursdays and Fridays about what our red zone plan is going to be through the multiple film sessions we have with him, whether it\u2019s as an offensive line and the quarterbacks or the entire skill group with Cav.\u00a0 He does a great job of explaining things.\u00a0 Then, Coach Moore is there to bounce questions off of. I know that, when they makeup the plan for that specific red zone game, Tom Moore is in there helping, just giving his feedback, leaning on his experience and knowledge of this game and red zone football.\u00a0 That can never hurt.\u00a0 There is never such a thing as too much help.\u00a0 (Moore) can always help and it\u2019s great to have him around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On if he is happy that Moore will be around the rest of the season\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I love it.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s great for us because he can help the receivers, tight ends and he\u2019s not just glued to my hip.\u00a0 It\u2019s not just for the quarterback or anybody like that.\u00a0 It\u2019s for everybody and he\u2019s not shy about helping guys when they need it.\u00a0 He\u2019s not one of those guys who wants to be in front of all the cameras.\u00a0 He\u2019s not a me-first guy.\u00a0 He\u2019s totally team-first, in the back, in the shadows, and when you need him, he\u2019s right there to give help, so it\u2019s great.<\/p>\n<p>Jets fans are talking about what kind of impact Tom Moore will have in our <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.jetnation.com\/topic\/102356-tom-moore-to-stay-with-jets-for-rest-of-the-season\/\">New York Jets message board<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Sanchez spoke to the media today about Tom Moore.
