Jets Cut Ties with Henry Anderson

Henry Anderson

In a move that could be seen from a mile away, the New York Jets have announced via their official twitter page that they have parted ways with defensive lineman Henry Anderson.

After coming to the Jets in a draft day deal with the Colts three seasons ago, Anderson enjoyed a career year as one of the top interior linemen in the NFL, finishing in the top 20 in quarterback pressures to go along with his career high 7 sacks.  However, after getting a huge pay day from Gang Green, he picked up just 1.5 sacks over the next two seasons combined.

The move frees up over $8 million in cap space which would cover quite a chunk of Marcus Maye’s franchise tag if they do in fact take that step.

Should the Jets choose not to franchise Maye, Anderson being let go along with some expected moves along the O-line, the Jets could be sitting at around $80 million in cap room.
