Jets Make it Official; Boyer Staying on as Special Teams Coordinator

Brant Boyer

It’s a move that has been anticipated for weeks but was not made official until today.  The Jets have announced through their official twitter page that they’ll be retaining special teams coach Brant Boyer.

In addition to retaining Boyer, the Jets made five additional hires official, including Tony Oden (Senior defensive assistant/cornerbacks), Marquand Manuel (defensive backs and safeties), Mike Rutenberg (linebackers), Jake Moreland (assistant O-line), Michael Ghobrial (special teams assistant.

In retaining Boyer, he Jets bring back a respected member of the staff who has now managed to survive a second coaching staff purge since being hired by Todd Bowles prior to his departure.  Boyer has done a solid job despite some massive overhauls at the bottom of the roster, earning the respect of his peers.

A former special teams ace himself back in his playing days, Boyer is viewed by some as a potential head coach in the future.
