Jets Decline Brooks Option

NY Jets Helmet

At the deadline for roster bonuses to be paid out, the Jets have declined safety Terrence Brooks’ 2019 option, which means he able to test the free agent waters.

In two seasons with the Jets, Brooks played in 31 games and was a key contributor on special teams, so Brant Boyer will have his hands full looking for a replacement. This move will add $1.8 million dollars in cap space while only adding $300,000 of dead money, according to overthecap.com. Currently sitting at $97.1 million, the Jets may cut ties with more players, so expect them to be very active once the free agency period opens.
