Jets Move WR Holmes To Active Roster

NY Jets Roster

Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been moved from the physically unable to perform list (PUP) to the team’s active roster.  Holmes was place on PUP at the start of training camp due to a Lisfranc (foot) injury suffered last season.

By removing Holmes from active/PUP he can no longer be placed on reserve/PUP after final cuts are made on August 31st.   A player placed on reserve/PUP must sit out the first six weeks of the season but does not take a spot on the 53-man roster.  There has been no timetable for a return but moving Holmes off PUP to the active roster indicates he should be ready for game action within six weeks.

This move also brings into question the status of WR Braylon Edwards as Holmes will now occupy a roster space and will seemingly be available early in the season.  With Edwards seeing less game and practice time along with the Jets bringing in more receivers his roster spot is looking less secure than ever.
